Dear Cypress Street Family, Having been through flooding in our own community on a smaller scale in March, we are quick to feel heartbroken for the southern portions of our state that have been absolutely devastated. Tens of thousands of homes have been lost and our sister churches have not been immune! Here's some of what we know so far: - Faith Chapel Church of God in Baton Rouge has 20 families with flood damage to their homes.
- Chapelwood Church of God in Denham Springs flooded to the roof. They lease their building but lost everything in it. Several members have damage in their homes, too.
- Christ the King Church in Baton Rouge had two feet of water in their church building along with their pastor's & several members' homes.
- A few other of our churches have also reported members with flood damage.
Our leadership acted quickly to send an initial $400 from Faith Promise contingency funds to Faith Chapel Church of God. But we don't want to stop there! If you would like to participate in helping our brothers & sisters and their communities recover & rebuild, please designate your donation for "Flood Relief" and our leadership will make sure it all gets dispersed to those who need it so badly. (If you are not able to attend this week, please feel free to send your donation.) Finally, if any of you would be interested in serving on a clean-up team to travel down and physically lend a hand, please let me know. We will do some investigating to see where we might be of service and not in the way of ongoing efforts! Thank you for your generosity and spirit of unity, Pastor Neil | |
