Pentecost Sunday. About 50 days after Easter, the Church celebrates the day of Pentecost. It's a big day in the church's history. If Christmas is Jesus' birthday, Pentecost is His Church's birthday. It's the day the first disciples received the Holy Spirit and began publicly proclaiming the gospel of Jesus' life, death and resurrection. This Sunday, we're setting aside a week to celebrate and remember our beginning and what it tells us about who we are and what we do. A big part of that is a missional call to Go and to Send. As part of our celebration, we'll all have an opportunity to give toward a special offering to help underwrite missionaries, especially those trying to raise funds to go onto the mission field. See you Sunday, Pastor Neil |
