Dear Cypress Street, Believe it or not, it's been two years since I arrived as your new pastor. Sincerely, I can only hope you've been half as pleased to serve with me as I have enjoyed serving with you! Here at the 2 year mark, we're taking 4 Sundays to look at 8 things we should increasingly value as a church. Because: When we value what matters most, we'll do what matters most! We kicked this off Sunday talking about Jesus & Prayer (and you can listen on CypressStreet.org or on our podcast, which I've found to be the best way to listen to sermons. CLICK HERE to find it on iTunes). Jesus is the One that matters most and He also has the power that matters most. If we want to see anything of true significance happen in or through the life of Cypress Street Church of God, we're going to need the power & work of the Holy Spirit. And if that's what we need, then surely prayer is our most critical work! Jim Cymbala said, "You can tell how popular a church is by who comes on Sunday morning... But you can tell how popular Jesus is by who comes to the prayer meeting." Let's be known as a place where Jesus is #1. And my challenge to each of us this week is to embrace these first values by committing to attend our We Pray service this Wednesday @ 6:30 PM. I respect the fact that this will be a difficult sacrifice for many of our families and I would not ask it if I didn't truly believe in it's importance. Thanks & hope to see you there! Grace & peace through our Lord Jesus Christ, Pastor Neil | |
